Underwriter - Financial Lines

• Underwrite a range of new and renewal business
• Communicate risk appetite and value proposition to brokers and clients
• Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with brokers and clients
• Generate new business by expanding broker network, attending broker events, and building new relationships
• Collaborate with AIG Distribution and underwriters in other business lines to target desirable accounts and cross-selling opportunities
• Set a high standard of customer service to brokers and clients
• Evaluate risks, quote and issue financial lines policies
• Analyze financial statements, applications, and other supporting documents
• Determine the acceptability of the risk and appropriate premium for coverage offered in accordance with established underwriting guidelines
• Provide support in the training of Brokers and Insureds about our products
• Contribute to operational efficiencies

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration (Accounting, Finance, or Related Area of Study); or the equivalent of education and years of experience required
• Proficient in Adobe and MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish including verbal, written and negotiation as well as networking and relationship building skills
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Customer and Sales orientated behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable
• Analytical thinking and strategic viewpoint are necessary to understand and manage complex clients
