About the role
Reports to the General Manager - Corporate Environmental Programs. The Co-op will be assigned to support one or more of the Corporate Environmental Compliance Department’s Program Managers/subject matter experts for environmental media-related compliance programs. These include, but are not limited to: Air quality compliance (Federal and state air permits), Spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC) and response, above and underground storage tanks (ASTs/USTs), site remediation, Waste Management (Hazardous, Non-hazardous, Universal wastes) and stormwater permitting and compliance (SWPPP), Environmental Management System (EMS), compliance management and information systems.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the General Manager - Corporate Environmental Programs.
- The Co-op will be assigned to support one or more of the Corporate Environmental Compliance Department’s Program Managers/subject matter experts for environmental media-related compliance programs.
- These include, but are not limited to: Air quality compliance (Federal and state air permits)
- Spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC) and response, above and underground storage tanks (ASTs/USTs), site remediation
- Waste Management (Hazardous, Non-hazardous, Universal wastes) and stormwater permitting and compliance (SWPPP)
- Environmental Management System (EMS), compliance management and information systems
Requirements
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution
- At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale
- Must be able to work on a full-time basis for 3 alternating semesters: Spring 2026, Fall 2026, and Summer 2027
- Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the Co-op
- Working as a Co-op/Intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity at Delta Air Lines upon graduation
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and direction
- Balance multiple assignments
- Handle confidential material appropriately
- Demonstrate strong technical written and oral communication skills
- Interact with internal workgroups of all levels
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft applications including OneDrive, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel, and have experience with other applicable internet applications
- Function effectively in a fast-paced environment and short-notice situations
- Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
- Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
- Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
- Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States
