The role you'll contribute: The Registered Nurse First Assistant works under the direct supervision of the surgeon to facilitate the procedure and process of surgery. Surgical first assistants are expected to prepare and position the patient for surgery, assist in visualization of the operating field, provide hemostasis, harvest surgical grafts, perform closure of incisions, and apply various wound dressings in accordance with the surgeon's preference. S/he is responsible for working collaboratively with the entire surgical team to monitor sterile integrity of the surgical field, ensure all surgical counts are correct and relay necessary information to other members of the team to ensure appropriate patient care is delivered. The value you'll bring to the team: Assist his/her assigned surgeon in the surgical procedure. Know their scope of practice and follow it, along with any state/institutional laws or parameters at all times. Assist the operating room staff with positioning, prepping and draping of the surgical patient to the surgeons preference. Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy as it relates to their assigned procedures and tasks. Demonstrate an understanding of the necessary instruments and supplies needed for the assigned surgical procedures. Qualifications The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed : Associate in Nursing Required RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Kansas Registered Required BCLS - Basic Life Support obtained through the American Heart Association Required First Assistant Certification or Certified Surgical Assistant Certification Required What You Will Need: Associates Degree in Nursing No Previous ExperienceBachelors Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment Kansas Registered Nurse License First Assistant Certification or Certified Surgical Assistant Certification BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association Job Summary: The Registered Nurse First Assistant works under the direct supervision of the surgeon to facilitate the procedure and process of surgery. Responsibilities
- Assist his/her assigned surgeon in the surgical procedure.
- Know their scope of practice and follow it, along with any state/institutional laws or parameters at all times.
- Assist the operating room staff with positioning, prepping and draping of the surgical patient to the surgeons preference.

Requirements
- Associate in Nursing Required
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Kansas Registered Required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support obtained through the American Heart Association Required
- First Assistant Certification or Certified Surgical Assistant Certification Required
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- No Previous Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
- Kansas Registered Nurse License
- First Assistant Certification or Certified Surgical Assistant Certification
- BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
