About the role

Responsibilities

  • Review patient files to understand patient’s history
  • Assess the health status of patients using a pre-screening process
  • Handle and reconstitute specialty pharmaceuticals
  • Follow cold chain requirements for medication
  • Insertion of peripheral intravenous or establishing access via central lines
  • Provide monitoring during and post medication administration
  • Develop patient care plan
  • Promote patient independence for self-injection
  • Document patient care services and managing records
  • Maintain knowledge of medical therapies
  • Participate in drug and clinic audits
  • Actively participate in training and mentoring of new clinic staff

Requirements

  • Strong intravenous initiation skills
  • CPR certification
  • ACLS/PALS certification is an asset
  • Ability to work autonomously and proficiently
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment
  • Maintain yearly practice membership with provincial College
  • Ability to work at various locations depending on region
  • Ability to work evening and weekends where applicable
