About the role

A Clinical Pharmacist opportunity is available for a 3-month contract to support a leave of absence. This role requires multi-state licensure in Alabama and Tennessee and offers a part-time schedule working 24-35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The position will be based on-site and involves supporting specialty infusion pharmacy operations using the CareTend (CPR+ upgrade) system. Key Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying prescriptions, providing patient counseling, monitoring drug therapies, overseeing pharmacy technician activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing pharmacy operations, participating in staff training, and serving as a point of escalation. Desired Qualifications include a pharmacy degree, multi-state license, minimum three years of experience, collaborative experience, knowledge of specialty therapies, proficiency with CareTend, and strong communication skills. This contract supports patients requiring specialized infusion therapies in a dynamic pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify prescriptions ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of medication therapy
  • Provide comprehensive patient medication counseling with focus on specialty therapies
  • Monitor drug therapies and advise interventions to optimize clinical outcomes
  • Oversee pharmacy technician activities and documentation, maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines (HIPAA, FDA, DEA, ACHC, URAC, OSHA)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Referral Services, Nursing, Quality Management, and Pharmacy Services
  • Manage pharmacy operations to ensure timely prescription fulfillment and efficient patient care support
  • Participate in staff training and maintain accurate pharmacy records and licensure requirements
  • Serve as a point of escalation for clinical and patient care issues

Requirements

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Current, unrestricted pharmacist license for both Alabama and Tennessee (multi-state licensure required)
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in specialty, infusion/home infusion, retail, community, mail-order, or hospital pharmacy
  • Experience working collaboratively with pharmacy technicians and clinical teams to support patient care
  • Knowledge of specialty therapies and payer contracts for rare disease treatments
  • Proficiency with CareTend preferred
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with ability to maintain compliance with regulatory standards
