About the role

Unit Supervisor, Procurement of Goods and Services, Wildland Fire Management, Contracts Specialist 3

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations associated with the Wildland Fire Management Division contracts and procurement program
  • Serving as the Unit Supervisor, Procurement of Goods and Services, Wildland Fire Management, overseeing the day-to-day operations, control, and accountability processes
  • Ensuring necessary processes, policies, and procedures agency-wide are intact and compliant with current procurement law and best management practices
  • Assisting staff in resolving issues that arise during the contracts and procurement processes
  • Participating in agency reviews of the updating of applicable agency-wide contracts and procurement Policy Documents
  • Developing and updating applicable agency-wide contracts and procurement Policy Documents
  • Providing guidance and approval agency-wide to deviate from contracts and procurement regulations, policy/procedures
  • Representing the agency in negotiations with other parties to contracts/agreements
  • Overseeing the preparation, review, negotiation, and approval of new and existing procurement of goods/services contracts/agreements
  • Providing leadership and mentoring to professional staff to achieve program priorities and objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree involving major study in business administration, public administration, business law, commerce, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a closely allied field
  • Three years of experience in negotiating, administering, or terminating government contracts, contract property management, contract cost or price analyses, or contract compliance administration
  • A law degree from an accredited college or university approved by the Washington State Bar Association may be substituted for two (2) years of experience and the education
