About the role
Responsible for managing day-to-day operations and evaluating, training, and scheduling Pathology Laboratory Assistants. This position maintains selected aspects of laboratory processes or shifts, including workflow, and performance improvement activities. Additionally, this role trains new employees and provides advanced problem-solving for customers and coworkers. In addition, this position oversees department equipment and computer maintenance and upgrades. Ensures the efficient and effective operation of laboratory services. The value you'll bring to the team: Evaluates the performance of Pathology Laboratory Assistants to ensure adherence to standards and protocols. Trains new and existing Pathology Laboratory Assistants on laboratory procedures and safety protocols. Schedules Pathology Laboratory Assistants to ensure adequate coverage and optimal productivity. Oversees the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results. Qualifications The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed : Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to provide daily direction to pathology laboratory support staff [Required] Ability to monitor staff productivity and provide coaching feedback to increase quality and productivity standards [Required] Up-to-date pathology laboratory support services knowledge in order to appropriately evaluate effectiveness and identify factors that may impact desired outcomes [Required] Ability to maintain records and prepare reports/correspondence related to pathology laboratory support services [Required] Ability to address pathology laboratory support services complaints and escalate through established channels, as needed [Required] Ability to ensure departmental compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements [Required] Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required] Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required] Associate [Required] 1 year of leadership/management experience [Required] 2 years of pathology laboratory experience [Required] American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) [Required] OR Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(AAB)) [Required] OR American Medical Technologists (AMT) [Required] This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
