About the role
The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Corrections Specialist 2- Training and Grievance Coordinator, at Olympic Corrections Center (OCC) in Forks, WA.
Responsibilities
- Review all incoming Resolution Requests and determine how to process based on the Resolution Program Manual (RPM) and policy requirements.
- Ensure the processing of Emergency Resolution Requests per the RPM.
- Enter Resolution information into OMNI with appropriate coding, outcome, and document all case activity while managing review assignments.
- Ensure all documents are typed/transcribed appropriately for Level 1, 2, & 3 Resolution Request, to include the Resolution Review Report.
- Assign reviews to appropriate staff and subject matter experts.
- Track active reviews at Levels 1 and 2 ensuring administrative responses are timely.
- Process and review all possible staff conduct allegations with the Superintendent/Designee for determination to move forward with a Resolution Review or removing from the program for an Administrative Investigation.
- Analyze completed reviews and formulate thoughtful, accurate, complete and appropriate responses for Levels 0, 1, & 2.
- Develop yearly in service calendar and curriculum for uniform and non-uniform staff.
- Provide information on policy, WAC, RCW and other training mandates as needed.
- Monitor status with Correctional Worker CORE (CWC) Academy Specialist to ensure staff are meeting requirements of CWC.
- Instruct classes as needed at the facility and statewide academies.
- Manage and schedule other facility instructors to facilitate classes locally and statewide academies.
- Track and report training attendance, completion and compliance.
- As program supervisor, monitor and track progress of correctional officer on the job training program and the mentorship program.
- Function as an alternate Disciplinary Hearings Officer who conducts Prison disciplinary hearings in compliance with all applicable WACs and DOC Policies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Six (6) years of experience in Adult, Juvenile, or Community Corrections, Law Enforcement, or closely related field.
