About the role
The inertial sensor team develops and integrates inertial sensors across a variety of programs including iPhone, iPad, Watch, AirPods, Vision Pro, and more.
Responsibilities
- Define inertial sensor roadmaps, infrastructure, core technologies, specifications, and qualification requirements
- Review and approve verification results
- Identify, create, and document new sensing system metrics
- Interact with suppliers to drive sensor designs
- Diagnose engineering issues using scientific method
- Prepare and deliver presentations to communicate technical status, risks, and mitigation strategies
Requirements
- BS and a minimum of 20 years relevant industry experience
- Ph.D + 10 years of hands-on experience and proven track record in inertial sensing hardware development
- Experience in architecture, design, characterization, and validation of inertial sensing systems
- Proficient in the theory of operation, signal processing, fabrication, packaging, and design trade-offs
- Fundamental knowledge and experience in physics, mechanical, electrical, and material science engineering, and manufacturing technology relevant to sensor fabrication
- Expertise in simulation, data collection, data analysis, and statistical analysis tools
- Executive-level written and verbal communication skills and solid teamwork and leadership skills
- Willingness and ability to travel
