About the role

The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) is hiring two Program Specialist 4 - Certification Case Review Specialist positions

Responsibilities

  • Review all complaints and agency reports received by WSCJTC and processed by Certifications Operations staff related to alleged officer misconduct
  • Identify materials needed for review to make determinations within scope of authority and consistent with WSCJTC policy
  • Obtain and organize law enforcement documents and other records
  • Acquire open-source information and records
  • Secure and analyze evidence
  • Review agency investigations, criminal investigations and related materials and determine if allegations of misconduct implicate Certification Bureau jurisdiction
  • Organize significant amounts of information/reports/files/photos/evidence for review by Certification Bureau staff and supervisors
  • Prepare professionally written documents to withstand scrutiny from internal and external readers
  • Present assigned cases to a panel of Chief Investigators and Case Review Manager to provide justification for administrative closure recommendations
  • Ensure all case-related communication is timely documented in case action logs and all correspondence and case related documents are properly filed and archived

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Sociology or related field
  • At least two years of experience as an investigator, case intake specialist, or policy analyst in a law enforcement oversight agency or internal affairs division or equivalent or as an investigator of complex administrative investigations in a field other than law enforcement
  • At least five years of experience conducting and/or approving administrative investigations
  • At least 7 years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer with no disciplinary history, including either: at least three years as first-line supervisor responsible for the review and/or investigation of officer conduct to determine compliance with law and policy; or two years as an internal affairs investigator or equivalent

$52,710 - $70,820/monthly
