About the role

Validates that care provided to patients is consistent with identified standards and is responsive to patient and family expectations of care. Ensures that staff is able to demonstrate competencies related to their respective job duties and ensures educational opportunities are attended/completed as required. Assesses that quality control is completed on the arterial blood gas analyzer each shift. Assesses ventilator bundle charting, ventilator flow sheet charting, and ventilator weaning. Recognizes the normal signs (growth and development of aging) of the patient populations indicated above and understands the requirements of assessment, medications, treatments and their correct administration, and care of the specific age group. Performs related duties as required. Responsible for supervision of Respiratory Care Services. Administers care to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities. Supervises and directs the work of employees. Assist in development of yearly budgets. Has responsibility for quality and quantity of work, costs, methods, maintenance, performance appraisals. Keeps Director advised on significant developments affecting the department and seeks direction. Keeps open and professional relationships with Medical Director and other physicians as well as other employees throughout the facility.

Requirements

  • Requires completion of Associates Degree from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
  • Experience: 2- 5 years work experience in Respiratory Care required
  • License/Certification: Current Therapist license with ABG Analyst Endorsement in the State of Tennessee
  • Must currently have or be able to achieve the RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care within 6 months of being promoted into this position
  • BLS certification required
