The role you'll contribute: Responsible for assisting the surgical team in providing surgical care to patients by ensuring a safe and effective operating room environment. This position facilitates the conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures under the supervision of an RN and/or surgeon. This role involves maintaining the sterility of the operating room, ensuring equipment functions properly, and applying principles of asepsis and sterile technique. In addition, this position combines knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and tools to support the physician's performance of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. This role actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships. The value you'll bring to the team: Gathers, checks, and opens supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, ensuring all items are functional and readily available. Maintains strict aseptic technique, performs surgical hand scrub, dons gown and gloves, and sets up sterile field and drapes for procedures. Anticipates needs of the surgeon by passing instruments, supplies, medications, hemostatic agents, and irrigation solutions during procedures. Performs instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator per policy to ensure accuracy and safety. Participates in surgical site and patient verification during the time-out procedure, addressing any discrepancies or concerns. Qualifications The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed: High School Grad or Equiv Required or Technical/Vocational School Graduate from school of surgical technology or equivalent (e.g., military training program) Required Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) Required
