Data Center Technician

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), you will develop an understanding of standard processes and procedures for preparing, installing, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacing, and/or decommissioning equipment under the guidance of more experienced Data Center colleagues.

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of standard operating procedures and proactively share knowledge to support efficient workflows.
• Prepare and execute hardware startups and shutdowns, guide peers, and escalate issues when necessary.
• Conduct basic diagnostics and troubleshooting, replacing faulty components with minimal supervision.
• Follow incident reporting procedures and manage hardware decommissioning for refresh cycles.
• Track issues, support client interactions, and stay informed on key performance indicators.
• Develop familiarity with cross-functional support processes and complete all required training.
• Adhere to all safety, security, and data handling protocols.
• Foster a positive team environment by sharing insights, responding to feedback, and modeling best practices.
• Take ownership of the physical infrastructure and contribute to the overall reliability and performance of the data center.

• Completed High/Secondary School, GED, an apprenticeship/vocational qualification, or equivalent experience and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
