About the role

Apple's Platform Architecture group is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and qualification of various prototyping platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop forward-looking prototype systems in collaboration with engineers across Apple
  • Design, implement, and qualify various prototyping platforms
  • Work closely with cross-functional design teams to develop new technology prototypes
  • Build computer systems from architectural concepts to PCB layout
  • Schematic capture, guiding PCB design, proof-of-concept/prototyping bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, test plan creation, test plan execution, functional verification, signal characterization, and manufacturing support
  • Develop and deliver presentations to executives
  • Build concise documentation for the projects delivered

Requirements

  • BSEE or BSCE degree
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture and PCB layout
  • Understanding of the system development process
  • Experience with microcontrollers, microprocessors, or ARM based systems
  • Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and/or multimeters
  • Preferred: MSEE or MSCE degree
  • 20+ years of industry experience, ideally 10+ years in developing consumer electronics products
  • Track record of leading projects from concept to prototype
  • Experience with sensors and analog components
  • Hands-on lab experience: soldering small surface mount components, rework, building prototypes, etc.
  • Experience with Cadence Concept and Allegro
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering concepts
  • Understanding of low-level software, such as drivers and real-time operating systems
