About the role
The Associate Data & Decision Scientist on the Capacity Scenarios and Forecasting Team within Network Planning plays a critical role in shaping Southwest Airlines' network strategy through advanced machine learning and data modeling.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate intermediate mastery of statistical and analytical techniques
- Use technology skills to gather and understand large data sets
- Identify trends and themes within data sets
- Deliver analysis that leverages understanding of the business problem
- Communicate recommendations and results to Department Leaders
- Construct structured data visualizations and dashboards
Requirements
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data
- Ability to understand and apply information to contribute to the organization's strategic plan
