Juv. Lit. Training Coordinator (AAG) - Children, Youth, and Families Division, Tumwater

This position will primarily update, facilitate, and deliver legal and skills-based training to Attorney General’s Office attorneys who represent DCYF in child welfare cases, lead the statewide Juvenile Litigation Training Committee, inform and support training for professional staff who work on these matters, and advise DCYF regarding its case worker training and curricula.

• Primarily facilitate and deliver juvenile litigation training to attorneys and staff in the five AGO divisions
• Advise DCYF regarding legal requirements referenced in its staff trainings
• Consult with the Division Chief and DCYF lead counsel and CYF Division members regarding changing legal requirements
• Consult with HR Training staff regarding optimal training methods
• Coordinate with Managing AAGs, attorneys, and staff in the five divisions that represent DCYF statewide
• Provide trainings to DCYF case workers
• Handle other DCYF programmatic, client advice or appellate work as assigned

• Knowledge of child welfare legal requirements and litigation skills
• Experience advising state child welfare workers
• Confident communicator and collaborator
• Ability to train attorneys and professional staff in person and by remote means
• Ability to communicate information effectively for the purpose of having others learn, understand, and apply specific principles, techniques, litigation skills or information

The CYF Division is located in the Tumwater Attorney General’s Office, although this position may be outstationed in another AG’s Office, depending on the location and experience of the successful candidate.
