About the role
The individual in this position will assist in preparing, packaging, delivering, and charging of medication orders, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Responsibilities
- fill and label medications
- stock medications into pharmacy inventory
- restock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs)
- maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications
- deliver medications to patient care areas
- attend to medication requests and phone calls
- prepare IV sterile admixture solutions and IV products
- assist in Pharmacy quality assurance activities
- train and educate pharmacy technicians on department and hospital policies and procedures, quality assurance, and performance improvement processes
- comply and assure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures
- assist pharmacists and Supervisors in performing various duties as assigned
- serve as a resource for pharmacy drug distribution functions
Requirements
- Minimum requirements are a High School Diploma or equivalent GED and Three (3) years of hospital pharmacy experience or performance equivalent to 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience
- Preferred education is a Completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program or pharmacy technician experience and Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred with training and experience in sterile (IV) compounding, including chemotherapy preparations
