About the role
Corrections & Custody Officer 3 - INTERNAL Workcrew - Seattle
Responsibilities
- Supervise Corrections and Custody Officers
- Plan, assign, and review the work of staff
- Provide on-the-job training and monitor completion of training requirements
- Evaluate employee performance and prepare evaluations
- Authorize and monitor usage of all types of leave
- Maintain confidential supervisory files
- Work with Program Manager, Human Resources and Recruitment Team to fill vacant positions
- Complete administrative duties
- Direct officers in the preparation of logs and reports
- Recall detailed observations and write reports
- Act as Program Manager Designee when necessary
- Coordinate with City, County and other Washington State agencies, non-profit organizations, contract recipients and their designees
- Monitor and maintain Workcrew tools, vehicles and equipment
- Enter monthly vehicle mileage and usage in the DES vehicle system
- Maintain proper use, control, and accountability of keys, tools, and equipment
- Ensure safety and security of the offices, staff and supervised individual workers
- Provide subordinate staff with the tools, training, and skills needed to perform duties
- Strictly adhere to established staff safety practices
- Advise supervised individuals concerning rules, regulations, procedures, policies, and behavior standards
- Operate communication devices to convey information among personnel
- Effectively communicate with supervised individuals, staff, and visitors
- Use appropriate de-escalation skills
- Review and complete safety and accident/injury reports
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of experience as a Correctional Officer in adult corrections
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license
- OR Two years of experience as a Correctional Officer in adult corrections
- Successful completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of accredited college-level coursework
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license
