About the role
The Information Associate (IA) is providing a variety of essential clerical duties of a routine, recurring nature for a specific department(s) within Shawnee Mission Health. These duties are essential to the smooth operation of the department and workflow of the nursing staff, physicians and other members of the health care team.The IA is often the first contact customers have with the department. As such, the IA is expected to uphold the highest level of customer service skills. The ability to communicate effectively is imperative to this position. Under the direction of the Administrative Coordinator and Charge Nurse, the position is responsible for being an effective multitask oriented individual. The position is responsible for security measures on the unit, including screening visitors via the phone and in person to assure patient confidentiality and minimization of contraband brought on to the unit. Yearly training in crisis intervention is required. Interaction with patients throughout the shift is a regular occurrence. Responsible for calling Security and monitoring the panic button locations when staff require help on the unit. The main job functions include answering incoming phone calls in a timely manner and greeting customers (visitors, physicians, and co-workers) with respect and kindness as a representative of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. Also required is processing of paperwork for admissions and discharges in a timely manner. In addition, this position provides clerical support to the nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the Behavioral Health team as well as works on staffing the unit daily.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association
- 1 to 2 years of Position-Related Experience
- Yearly training in crisis intervention is required.
