About the role

The Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) is looking for a Community Facility Statewide Food Service Oversight Program Specialist to provide healthy eating and mental well-being by managing the food service of 9,000 to 11,000 meals prepared each month in Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) Minimum Security Community Facilities (CF) across the state.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee 9000 – 11,000 meals per month.
  • Oversee facility cooks in planning menus, ordering, and food storage.
  • Maintain inventories of foods and supplies, prepare daily, weekly, and special menus which conform to resident medical care programs.
  • Ensure compliance with menus and fidelity to the mission/vision of the food service program by collecting data from cooks and CF Administrators.
  • Create a Food Service Program manual and statewide form that is used for facility counting.
  • Work with OSPI on any open Corrective Action Plans to ensure compliance.
  • Track, evaluate, and update contracts; Work with vendors, giving feedback and accountability.
  • Create and monitor a Q&A for food preparation, proper food handling, supplies and equipment, and food distribution.
  • Provide in-service training courses and schedules for training to cooks and other food service employees.
  • Instruct food service staff in food preparation and kitchen procedures.

Requirements

  • Equivalent combination of certification in Child Nutrition and experience in cooking for group home or similar setting, including menu planning, production of meals, food procurement, storage, and preparation or closely related work.
  • Certification in Child Nutrition AND two years of experience as a COOK2, or dietitian, or equivalent.
