About the role

The Lab Technician performs basic technical tests on products and samples. Primary responsibility will be color matching customer samples to fill color requests. Other responsibilities may include preparing and analyzing materials and samples, performing basic calculations, and cleaning and maintaining the lab.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic paint and paint making processes, meeting manufacturing specifications
  • Perform basic coating formulations, applications, and physical/performance test methods
  • Provide timely and accurate data to help resolve field complaints, raw material issues, manufacturing problems, and support existing and new product development
  • Cleans, maintains, and calibrates standard equipment and maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Completes appropriate forms and documentation regarding tasks and requests; receives direction from other technicians or chemists on specialized or complex issues.
  • Performs basic calculations to prepare and finalize formulations
  • Performs basic technical tests based on formulas and project requirements; tasks are more standard and require limited judgment within established guidelines.
  • Prepares basic samples, materials, equipment, and other required tools for laboratory tests or development.
  • Performs packaging and shipment of customer samples.
  • May help design and execute experiments and begin to draw conclusions and make recommendations
  • Comply with test methods according to set standards
  • Document all formulation processes and complete proper forms and documents as necessary
  • Comply with all safety and security regulations, and maintain a clean work area

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent Knowledge of basic math skills
  • Must be, with or without reasonable accommodation, able to determine the difference between colors so you can correctly tint paint to the colors desired by customers.
  • 6 months of lab experience in industry
  • Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis
  • PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and other applicable applications.
