Educational Interpreter - New Haven, CT

An Elementary School is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated support to a student through a full-time contract position lasting the academic year. This role is based in the New Haven, CT area, with responsibilities primarily centered around one-on-one work with an elementary student. The ideal candidate will have experience in educational settings and demonstrate fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).

• Provide 1:1 interpretation and communication support using ASL to assist an elementary student.
• Facilitate comprehension of classroom materials through tutoring and ASL assistance.
• Help build the student’s ASL vocabulary and language skills to enhance academic progress.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure effective communication and learning support.

• Fluency in American Sign Language is required.
• Previous experience working in a school environment is highly preferred.
• RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification and/or EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) scores are preferred but not mandatory.
