About the role
The Acute Virtual Care Program Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the health system’s hospital-based virtual care services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely, and evidence-based medicine through virtual modalities
Responsibilities
- The Acute Virtual Care Program Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the health system’s hospital-based virtual care services
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely, and evidence-based medicine through virtual modalities
- Facilitate provider engagement, monitor performance metrics, and serve as a liaison between clinical, operational, and IT teams
- Coordinate training and ensure staff are proficient in virtual care workflows, protocols, and technology
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the acute virtual care programs across participating facilities
- Serve as the primary contact for telephysicians, emergency department staff, nursing, radiology, and hospital leaders
- Monitor telestroke metrics, including consult volumes, door-to-needle times, transfer rates, and quality outcomes
- Coordinate stroke education and training for site staff, including onboarding of new telestroke providers and partner hospitals
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and/or DNV Stroke Center requirements and assist with audit preparation and documentation
- Partner with Ascension Technologies, Virtual Care team members, and vendor partners to ensure technical infrastructure is functioning optimally
- Support privileging, and credentialing processes for telestroke providers
- Lead and facilitate recurring meetings with internal and external stakeholders to review performance, address concerns, and share best practices
- Identify opportunities for program growth, process improvement, and innovation within virtual stroke care delivery
Requirements
- Education: High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required
- 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred
- Additional Preferences: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field
- Preferred Licensure/Certification/Registration: Active RN license, Stroke Certification (e.g., SCRN, ASC-PSC Coordinator Certificate) preferred
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP) a plus
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in hospital-based healthcare setting, preferably in stroke, ED, telemedicine or virtual care
- Prior experience working with quality improvement initiatives and data analysis
- Experience coordinating across departments and managing clinical workflows in a matrixed environment
- Knowledge of stroke accreditation requirements and telestroke best practices is strongly desired
