Special Education Teacher

This contract position is based onsite in Washington, DC, serving a high school environment. The role involves both co-teaching and self-contained responsibilities, providing comprehensive support for students with learning disabilities.

• Deliver instruction in co-teaching settings for four periods, working closely with approximately 20 students with learning disabilities per class.
• Manage one self-contained classroom with around 10 students, assisted by dedicated aides.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to create inclusive and effective lesson plans.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse needs.
• Engage with families, staff, and administration to foster a supportive learning environment.

• Valid Special Education teaching certification.
• Experience in teaching ELA within special education, particularly at the high school level.
• Proven ability to manage both co-teaching and self-contained classroom settings effectively.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
