About the role
Join our innovative team of educators who are transforming DHH education through cutting-edge virtual learning platforms! We're seeking a passionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher to provide specialized instruction to students with hearing impairments through our comprehensive remote learning system.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs for students with hearing impairments
- Create engaging virtual lessons that maximize visual learning opportunities
- Collaborate with families on educational strategies and provide updates on student progress
- Conduct virtual IEP meetings, facilitate parent conferences, and work closely with audiologists, speech therapists, and other related service providers
- Track academic achievement and communication development, and adapt instructional approaches based on individual hearing levels and communication preferences
Requirements
- Active Michigan Deaf and Hard of Hearing teaching license
- Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience working specifically with students who have hearing impairments
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and understanding of various communication modalities used by DHH students
- Experience with assistive hearing technologies, visual learning strategies, and deaf culture awareness
