Data Consultant 4 - Educator Data, Research and Development

Responsibilities

  • Build new Structured Query Language (SQL) codes, including views and functions to compute counts and percent using source tables
  • Rebuild and modify existing SQL codes and maintain, analyze, and report on all aspects of electronic educator records
  • Research and advocate for improved data practices, especially as they pertain to educator workforce
  • Create innovative solutions to improve data processes
  • Integrate data from various sources (educator, student, financial, etc.) to develop meaningful and accurate reports and reporting tools
  • Verify accuracy and integrity of data, including educator data files and reports
  • Design, develop, and ensure proper implementation of processes and procedures for maintaining educator data and records
  • Perform complex data management functions and statistical analyses for internal and external reports and reporting tools
  • Build and modify Tableau workbooks and create new ones to display educator measures coherently and understandably
  • Communicate clearly and consult with other data analysts and program offices to deepen understanding of the scope of the Tableau workbooks, audience, and linkage between data display/analysis and program offices’ vision/priority/goal, tasks, and state and federal mandates
  • Collaborate with team members, departments, and stakeholders to develop real-time standard data reports and interactive dashboards
  • Develop strategies and implement solutions to improve data quality, reporting, dissemination, and analysis
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and strategize, propose, and implement technological solutions as appropriate
  • Accurately estimate and track timelines and develop procedures to accomplish data requests, analysis, reports, and projects
  • Manage multiple projects by accurately tracking progress and status and identifying uncertainty and barriers
  • Generate solutions for identified obstacles and challenges to accomplish projects and tasks within timeline
  • Assist in organizing the Educator Data, Research and Development data governance process and monitor data requests and the agency’s data collection and system updates to provide responsive services
  • Build and share tables and functions that contribute to systematic data structure and improve data quality and consistency in all data domains, including educator, student, and finance
  • Prepare and facilitate data discussion to raise the level of data display and report for our data end user
  • Develop research and data analysis to present in data conferences, including the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Stats-DC Data Conference, Washington Education Research Association, and American Education Research Association
  • Build and maintain centralized table(s) for educator growth and development research using the educator career continuum under the direction of the Director of Educator Data, Research, and Development
  • Collaborate with other data analysts in the department to build systematic table structure, including response variables and predictor variables
  • Build views, functions, and stored procedures to optimize table building and maintenance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, statistics, computer information science, business, accounting, economics, social services, or related fields
  • Three years of experience in data management, data analysis, research/evaluation, data governance, or experience in a related field
  • Combination of seven (7) years of professional level experience in data management, data analysis, research/evaluation, data governance, or experience in a related field
