About the role

Resident Transportation Driver (Truck Driver 2) for the Washington Veterans Home, provide safe transportation for our Veteran residents to various medical and dental appointments in Kitsap County and surrounding areas

Responsibilities

  • Drive and transport residents to and from required medical, dental, and various health-related appointments
  • Transfer residents safely to and from vehicles while in wheelchairs, Gerri chairs, and other various medical devices
  • Pick up and deliver medications, wheelchairs, and personal effects to residents of the Washington Veterans Home
  • Refuel vehicles, perform inspections, complete mileage logs, and immediately report mechanical deficiencies to supervisor
  • Load and direct the loading of passengers and wheelchairs to ensure proper vehicle weight distribution and verify all wheelchairs and residents are secured

Requirements

  • Must have a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B with Passenger (P1) endorsement
  • Must be proficient in the English language and be able to read, write and speak English
  • One (1) year of experience working as a Truck Driver 1
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis
