About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide leadership, direction, and strategic oversight in developing and implementing innovative information technology solutions

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and strategic oversight in developing and implementing innovative information technology solutions
  • Align the organization's technology deployment strategy with its business strategy
  • Oversee technology purchases, implementation initiatives, and various related services
  • Maximize the application of advanced computer technology and the capabilities of an integrated automated system
  • Serve on DOL's Executive Leadership Team
  • Provide technology vision and leadership for developing, implementing, and governing strategic information technology initiatives
  • Administer several highly complex, mission-critical systems
  • Coordinate maintenance and operations to ensure the agency does not fall into technical debt
  • Serve as main point of contact with technology vendors
  • Oversee DOL's Information Security Office
  • Direct the development of budget and resource plans
  • Assess feasibility for new technology responsive to DOL's evolving business needs
  • Consult executive management on topics
  • Ensure the agency's technology and business needs are represented at an enterprise level

Requirements

  • Strong strategic leadership, technological, and management skills
  • Significant knowledge of information technology and the ability to integrate disparate technology systems
  • Strong planning skills and the ability to develop and carry out long-range technological planning
  • Analytical thinking skills to create innovative solutions and implementation methods
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Sound judgment and a sense of fairness
  • Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, and teambuilding skills
  • Ability to lead and manage a large, diverse service delivery support organization
  • Ability to think strategically, providing organizational direction and resource management
  • Understanding of complex principles and dynamics associated with the information technology industry within state government
  • Ability to inspire staff to achieve their potential and perform well
  • Ability to influence executive peers in guiding decision-making for technology
  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop partnerships with various entities
  • Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders
  • Understanding and following agency values of respect, trust, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Promoting and supporting a respectful, equitable, and inclusive workplace and delivery of services
