About the role
A Philadelphia-based elementary school is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support 5th grade students with behavioral and emotional disabilities. This contract role runs through June 12 and offers an opportunity to work within a K-8 setting using both push-in and pull-out instructional methods.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized instruction and interventions tailored to 5th grade students with behavioral and emotional challenges
- Employ push-in and pull-out teaching strategies to support individualized learning plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to create inclusive educational experiences
- Manage caseload effectively, ensuring progress and well-being of each student
- Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding student progress and needs
Requirements
- Pennsylvania Special Education certification preferred (Instructional I or II K-12 SPED cert ideal)
- Candidates with emergency PA SPED certification will be considered
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience preferred, especially in special education settings
- Strong understanding of behavioral/emotional disabilities and adaptive teaching methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
