About the role

Energy Engineer (In-Training) - INTERNAL ONLY

Responsibilities

  • Manage Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) projects in public facilities across Eastern Washington.
  • Provide project management and energy engineering services for ESPC contracts.
  • Lead marketing, project development, and audit/contract reviews.
  • Negotiate project costs, fees, and oversee construction and commissioning.
  • Review and approve invoices.
  • Plan, develop, and direct statewide engineering projects.
  • Update the Main Energy Services Agreement (MESA) and General Conditions (GCs) to align with changes in statutes, policies, and procedures for Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC).
  • Supervise Energy Project Managers by overseeing workloads, monitoring project status, and providing guidance or coaching.
  • Set clear expectations, conduct evaluations, and perform other supervisory duties for junior staff.

Requirements

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Energy Manager in Training (EMIT) certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major study in engineering, environmental science, or the hard sciences.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience in energy engineering, energy auditing, project management, energy performance contracting, construction management, utility engineering, or a related field.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Washington State or Certified Energy Manger (CEM).
  • Eight (8) years of demonstrated experience in related fields such as architecture, civil, structural or utility engineering, engineering management, construction or project management, natural resource management, environmental science, etc.
