About the role
We are seeking a skilled and versatile SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team in a role that blends core database administration with opportunities to contribute to application architecture.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances
- Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Enforce database security through user roles, permissions, and encryption
- Manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance using SQL Server Profiler and DMVs
- Conduct database patching and upgrades
- Create, schedule, and monitor SQL Agent jobs
- Design efficient database schemas, tables, and indexes while ensuring normalization and denormalization techniques
- Identify and Resolve performance bottlenecks, implementing indexing strategies, and managing statistics
- Develop ETL workflows using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document processes clearly
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or a related discipline required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a SQL Database Administration role
- Previous experience analyzing SQL Server execution plans and understanding query optimization, including index usage and SQL Server internals
- Proficiency with tools like Query Store and Database Engine Tuning Advisor for performance monitoring and optimization
- Expertise in designing and developing ETL workflows with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), including package development and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated experience with SSIS components, performance tuning, and integrating ETL processes with various data sources and systems
- Advanced T-SQL skills for creating complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers, with experience in the database development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, TFS) to manage database scripts and SSIS packages while collaborating with developers to optimize application-database interactions
- Experience with cloud-based SQL Server solutions (e.g., Azure SQL Database)
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and Microsoft BI tools (e.g., SSRS)
- Demonstrable proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for database task automation
- Understanding of basic DevOps principles (CICD, version control, automated testing)
- Familiarity with use, creation and deployment of certificates for server and database encryption
