About the role
The Manager, District Operations leads district employees and assets, including pipeline and facility operations, maintenance, internal projects, regulatory requirements, safety, and financial controls.
Responsibilities
- Implements strategy for the district, including operating policies, and contributes to organization policies.
- Recommends improvements to processes and systems to meet current operational needs.
- Evaluates potential approaches and policies in response to critical information.
- Manages district operations and assures costs and projects have a significant impact on the organization’s business results.
- Maximizes existing transportation and storage assets.
- Directs the deployment of a mix of resources across the district.
- Partners with the Manager, Operations to resolve complex or unusual business problems across the district.
- Endorses priorities and provides guidance to the district when implementing action plans.
- Anticipates industry trends and changes, including people, process, and systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience in petroleum transportation, chemical processing and/or storage business or in lieu of degree a minimum of 10 years’ experience in petroleum transportation and/or storage business.
- 7-10 years of experience leading people and teams.
- Able to interact with Plains’ leaders and employees, build strong relationships at all levels and across all business units and organizations, and articulate business focus and initiatives.
- Able to partner, collaborate, and influence within operations and across the business.
- Demonstrated business acumen and able to describe the business impact of projects and policies.
- Demonstrate planning, coordinating, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively within and across the Operations organization and the business.
- Experience with applicable environmental regulations, PHMSA regulations, and applicable API measurement standards.
- Experience interfacing with individuals inside and outside the company, e.g., public officials, regulators, engineers, business professionals, contractors, and others.
- Solid presentation skills, experience presenting to leader audiences, and able to effectively convey the data and the story.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, problem solving, and critical thinking.
- Able to successfully complete Haz-Mat training and perform Incident Commander role, safety awareness training, and any related required training and certification.
- Experience with Microsoft office suite applications with a strong emphasis on Excel.
- Able to travel within the U.S. and Canada up to 40% of the time.
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
- Valid drivers’ license with a clean abstract.
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
- Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment screening.
