About the role

A middle school special education opportunity is available for a long-term substitute serving students in grades 6-8. This role involves delivering focused instruction in math, reading, writing, life skills, and social skills within a supportive school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide special education instruction tailored to middle school students, including those with autism.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs.
  • Attend Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings.
  • Collaborate with staff to support student progress.
  • Use designated planning time effectively to prepare lessons and instructional materials.

Requirements

  • Valid Connecticut Special Education licensure for grades 6-8.
  • Proven experience working with middle school students diagnosed with autism.
  • Strong skills in delivering math, reading, writing, life skills, and social skills instruction.
