Veterans Benefit Assistant, Full-Time - Permanent, Washington Veterans Home

• Interview and counsel Veterans, family members, and beneficiaries on rights, privileges, and benefits provided under existing laws.
• Assist with daily review of Veterans Home Census - monitor and report internal resident movement by mailing DSHS Notice of Action on appropriate forms.
• Prepare reports, letters, documents, transmittals, and daily communication using the appropriate software programs.
• Assist resident and/or deceased resident next-of-kin or court-appointed legal representative in the process of funeral arrangement, burial contracts, and purchasing of burial policies.
• Serve as the front desk point-of-contact and provide information and assistance for the administrative suite and the associated departments, individuals, and functions/activities located there.
• Support the general operation of the department area in provision of general office assistant services to support administrative work in ensuring the operation of the facility.
• Review and complete various supporting documents needed concerning claims, research sources, financial status, and other pertinent information relating to Veterans benefits claims.

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, business administration, public administration, social science, or closely allied field.
• Four (4) years of experience in social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Access, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
