About the role

The Acute Surgical Orthopedic and Bariatric Care Coordinator ensures that all necessary resources are in place to facilitate effective patient support and treatments toward providing quality patient care to patients with Total Joint Replacement, orthopedic surgeries, and morbid obesity care. The Acute Surgical Orthopedic and Bariatric Care Coordinator interacts daily with patients, physicians and nursing staff and works closely with the surgeons and their office staff to ensure an uneventful and successful progression for the patient through the surgery process. Provides pre-surgical orientation class for hip and knee replacement patients. The Acute Surgical Orthopedic and Bariatric Care Coordinator is responsible for all hospital program management, including assisting with introductions, Power Points and Brochures at Surgeon Seminars. staff and community education if applicable, patient rounds, outcomes monitoring, preparation of statistical reports, and maintenance of all required documentation, and compliance with national standards, certifications, and accreditations. Drives patient satisfaction outcomes by performing consistent Nurse Leader rounding. Demonstrates and resolves patient and family concerns/complaints using service recovery methods; A-Apologize/Acknowledge, C-Correct, and T-Thank you (ACT). The value you'll bring to the team: Manages accreditation criteria and ensures continuous compliance with Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) standards. Administrates the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Committee and attends all meetings. Prepares for and attends MBSAQIP accreditation/re-accreditation Site Visit. Serves as the liaison between the facility and all metabolic and bariatric proceduralists at the center and any general surgeons providing call coverage. Monitors all aspects of patient safety on the unit, including but not limited to, sentinel event, medication policies and procedures, and incident reporting. Qualifications The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed : Bachelors degree in nursing Two-years minimum experience as an RN Bariatric Nurse Certification (CBN) or achieved within two years of employment. BLS ACLS within 90 days Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Florida or Licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure by endorsement Membership in American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) required upon hire or within 120 days after employment. Requirements
