Sign Language Interpreter in Waterbury, CT

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled professional to work as an ASL Language Facilitator in an elementary school setting. This full-time, contract role involves working directly 1:1 with an elementary student to support their academic progress and ASL development. The position requires dedication to fostering comprehension, tutoring in various subjects, and building the student's ASL vocabulary.

• Provide one-on-one tutoring support to an elementary student
• Facilitate understanding of classroom materials using American Sign Language (ASL)
• Assist in expanding the student’s ASL vocabulary and language skills
• Collaborate with educators and other professionals to ensure appropriate instructional support
• Maintain consistent communication regarding student progress and needs

• Fluency in American Sign Language
• Experience working in school settings
• Possession of RID certification and/or EIPA score
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage young learners effectively
• Patience, adaptability, and a student-centered approach to support learning goals
