About the role
Responsible for providing close surveillance of EKG monitors and communicating rhythm status to nurses. This position ensures accurate monitoring and timely reporting of any changes in patient rhythms. This role adheres to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting body standards. In addition, this position actively participates in providing outstanding customer service. Additionally, this role maintains respectful relationships with all individuals.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing close surveillance of EKG monitors and communicating rhythm status to nurses.
- Ensures accurate monitoring and timely reporting of any changes in patient rhythms.
- Maintains monitor alarms per policy, verifies that alarms are set and audible every shift, and troubleshoots monitors as needed.
- Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities, demonstrating accurate documentation and monitoring of activities, and supporting departmental quality standards and initiatives.
- Follows Center for Disease Control's isolation guidelines, demonstrate appropriate use of personal protective equipment, perform handwashing according to policy, and enforce safety regulations.
- Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills, performing other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or unit.
- Provides patient care in relation to the age and needs of the customer/patient.
- Maintains telemetry printout during cardiac arrest and as indicated.
- Ensures effective communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status and any changes observed.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, ensuring equipment is properly sanitized and stored.
- Participates in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and departmental procedures.
- Demonstrates behavior that aligns with the company's core values.
Requirements
- High School Grad or Equiv
- One or more years work experience needed
- Monitor technician experience or successful completion of AdventHealth Monitor Technician training program or equivalent needed.
