About the role

Responsible for supervising all general horticulture maintenance activities to ensure the highest possible quality standards for UO landscape areas. In addition to overseeing and implementing all UO safety policies and procedures among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and disseminates horticulture work schedules using the Kronos time and attendance management system.
  • Completes employee performance appraisals, tracks necessary EHS training needs, and provides resources for horticulture team members to improve their horticultural knowledge and skills.
  • Coordinates with other UO departments and tracks work orders using Maximo system to support all Horticulture labor and non labor expense.
  • Monitors Horticulture budgets weekly to stay on trend for actual and budgeted expense.
  • Prepares allotted budgets to include daily operation and LRP (Long Range Planning) for future development.
  • Assists and develops scope of work and issues maintenance directives for all horticulture team members by monitoring the cultural requirements in all areas.
  • Monitors the quality and effectiveness of landscaping work.
  • The use of horticulture tools, equipment, and material availability.
  • Oversees equipment distribution and preventive maintenance to all equipment.
  • Coordinates and creates area designs, seasonal UO horticulture themes, and research and development of new plant species.
  • Oversees emergency planning and response, vendor/supplier inspections, landscape licensing requirements i.e.: Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
