About the role
Lead and support medical professional liability claims and litigation for the Ascension Health Alliance Professional Liability and General Liability Self-Insurance Trust. Investigate and process general and professional liability claims from first notice of loss through resolution including coverage, liability, damage evaluations and resolution. Establish reserves based on protocols and authority procedures. Oversee litigation assigned to external counsel and manage panel counsel retained for litigated claims. Negotiate settlements directly with patients, plaintiff attorneys and/or direct defense counsel within approved authority. Complete National Claims Committee reports for large loss matters. Attend and present to self-insured clients’ board, hospital leadership committee, or claim meetings as requested. Collaborate with claims leadership to achieve Key Performance Indicators for the claims team. Serve as mentor to team members on proper investigative techniques, documentation and resolution.

Requirements
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
