About the role
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Extern assists patients with activities of daily living; provides a safe environment for patients by providing 1:1 observation and care; and, assists staff and patients with select procedures and health interventions, all in a family centered environment. The Extern can also assist in data collection activities (i.e. hand hygiene surveillance, personal protective equipment usage, etc. ) Providence caregivers are not simply valued – they’re invaluable. Responsibilities
- Assists patients with activities of daily living
- Provides a safe environment for patients by providing 1:1 observation and care
- Assists staff and patients with select procedures and health interventions, all in a family centered environment
- Assists in data collection activities (i.e. hand hygiene surveillance, personal protective equipment usage, etc.)
Requirements
- Current enrollment in an NLN approved nursing program
- National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
- Current enrollment in an NLN approved Bachelor of Science nursing program
- Has successfully completed, at a minimum, the 1st semester of clinicals
- Previous employment in a health care setting
