2025 Communications Intern - UNPAID - Fall/Winter

• Build and edit webpages in Drupal 10 – www.dnr.wa.gov
• Build and edit webpages in SharePoint
• Prep content, with staff coaching, for agency social media sites
• Assist with archive, backup, and processing stats for social media tools
• Contribute to weekly social media planning
• Video/audio project assignments
• Write blogs with staff coaching
• May assist with News Releases, Media Advisories, or talking points with coaching
• Photo assignments
• Works as a productive member of a team
• Learns professional communications in a workplace experience
• Network with other professionals

• A current student in an undergraduate or graduate program majoring in journalism, social media networking, communications, or a related field
• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• DNR Core Competencies: Personal Accountability, Value Others, Compassionate Communication, Inspire Others, Commitment to Excellence
• Journalism skills, writing, and editing: blogs, media releases, websites, or scientific journals
• Video and social media networking experience is a strong plus
• Website or HTML experience; Graphic design experience
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Great work ethic and self-starting attitude
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Interest in natural resources and a desire to further their career in communications

• Flexible/Hybrid work arrangement
• 20-40 hours a week
• Partial Telework flexibility may be available
