DSHS Fircrest Custodian 1
Responsibilities
- Cleaning sinks, toilets, mirrors, walls, partitions, windows, ledges, and mop boards in facility bathrooms
 - Keeping restrooms and storage closets properly stocked with supplies
 - Vacuuming carpets, and floor mats, and sweeping outside porches, steps, walkways, and areas where dumpsters are located
 - Washing walls, ceilings, vents, lights, and windows inside and outside the building
 - Shampooing carpets, dust mops, and wet mopping floors (moving furniture as needed)
 - Scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors
 - Scrubbing tile floors, manually and/or with an auto scrubber
 - Emptying garbage cans and taking garbage to the dumpster
 - Putting linens away on shelves from hamper carts
 - Preparing monthly supply orders
 
Requirements
- Ability to use equipment in general housekeeping work, such as vacuum cleaners and electrical floor scrubbing/polishing equipment
 - Ability to use supplies safely to refinish (strip or wax or top scrub) tile, concrete, and wood floors, and clean carpet/upholstery
 - Ability to mix cleaning products to appropriate ratios
 - Ability to work with various types of moving equipment
 - Ability to apply cleaning methods and safety practices
 - Ability to keep records and maintain inventories
 - Ability to receive instructions, assimilate the information, and act according to those instructions
 - Ability to be patient, tolerant, and respectful towards others, especially those who may demonstrate intellectual/developmental disabilities
 - Ability to respond to client and facility emergencies
 - Ability to effectively communicate with management, peers, clients, and the public as required to carry out the assigned duties of the role
