Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist I (entry level practitioner) performs all necessary routine respiratory care procedures associated with acute or critically ill neonatal, pediatric, or adult patient populations and is able to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

• Initiates and maintains appropriate therapy, including life support technique and equipment.
• Provides, preventable, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the cardio-pulmonary system in assigned patient care areas.
• Applies the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate interactions with staff, patients, and families of all ages.

• High School Grad or Equiv Required
• Technical/Vocational School Required
• One or more years Work Experience Preferred
• ABG Puncture and Analysis
• Medicated Aerosol Therapies and applications, Bronchial Hygiene Therapies, Lung Expansion Therapies
• Basic Spirometry
• Oscillatory Chest Physiotherapy Applications
• CPR and basic Airway Management and Suctioning
• Non-Invasive Bilevel Application & Management
• Respiratory Monitoring Pulse oximetry Applications
• Application Non-Invasive Oxygen Therapies & devices
• Non-Invasive End Tidal Co2 Capnography Application & Monitoring
• Adult Basic Conventional Ventilator Management & Applications
• Routine Oxygen Delivery, Devices, and Oximetry
• Utilize and adapt to State of the Art Technology, Computer Systems and Applications
• Effective Oral and Written Communication
• Basic pediatric and/or neonatal respiratory care skills
