Claims Analyst III, Commercial Auto
Responsibilities
- Review casualty claims in conjunction with policy wordings to determine coverage
- Provide direction to adjusters on investigation of claims
- Prepare disclaimer and/or reservation of rights letters and communication same to underwriters, brokers and insureds when applicable
- Provide instruction to legal counsel to bring about appropriate resolution of claim
- Ensure compliance by legal counsel of our litigation guidelines
- Participate in mediation/ADR process to bring about resolution of claim
- Negotiate settlements directly where possible
- Issue payments within appropriate time frame
- Operate within our best practices guidelines, including timely reserve review, notes, payment requests, electronic diary
- Inform management of all complaints, large losses, coverage issues, etc.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience or knowledge in handling commercial auto claims is an asset
- College/University or equivalent industry experience
- Ability to make decisions and give directions to counsel and/or adjusters
- Strong negotiating skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced busy team environment
- Ability to manage workload effectively and efficiently
- Enrollment or willingness to obtain CIP designation is an asset
- Proficient computer skills to navigate paperless claim file system
