The Benefits Consultant supports our Purpose by ensuring competitive health and well-being programs are offered at Southwest to attract and retain Employees. This role interacts with a variety of Teams, including Talent Acquisition, People, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Legal, and Labor.
Responsibilities
- Drive innovative initiatives by analyzing industry trends, best practices, and the competitive landscape to incorporate those best aligned with Company strategic objectives, priorities, and long-term goals
- Leverage vendor relationships by managing performance in accordance with service level agreements to ensure efficient and cost-effective administration of programs
- Manage the development, tracking, reporting, and analysis of program goals, outcomes, performance metrics to evaluate program progress, gain insight, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations
- Advise Leadership in ensuring consistent application and integration of all policies and procedures; local, state, and federal laws; and government regulations pertaining to Benefit practices
- Provide quality Customer Service and support to Employees, Leadership, Internal Teams
- Provide subject matter expertise to support the design and development of high impact and interactive events/programs to educate Employees on plans, policies, process, and procedures
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Requirements
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
- Ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem
- Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand
