About the role
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the role of Psychology Associate for the Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) located just northeast of the Seattle area in Washington.
Responsibilities
- Provide mental health treatment and case management for incarcerated and violator patients
- Conduct intake assessments of patients using agency designated forms & documents
- Provide follow up assessments for patients determined to need continuing services
- Diagnose presenting concerns in accordance with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) and determine whether conditions meet treatment criteria per the WA DOC Health Plan and functional deficits
- Develop treatment plans for patients that are informed by MHU/MHA
- Deliver evidence-based treatment in accordance with treatment plan
- Evaluate progress of treatment and recommend patients for higher levels of care when indicated
- Provide transition and release planning for patients
- Document all contacts per policy & protocol
- Provide administrative supervision to one or two CMHC3’s
- Maintain attendance records, completes overtime and leave slip approvals, and approves timecard
- Will communicate with supervisors regarding supervisee absences
- Meet with supervisee(s) monthly, document issues and materials discussed during supervision meetings with employees on supervisory conference forms and will retain signed copies of these forms in the supervisees file for one year, supervisee will also be given a copy at the time of supervision
- Provides a copy of Position Description to every supervisee and maintains a signed copy in the employee’s file
- Annually or when required, the incumbent will provide a position evaluation to each employee based on the performance of the employee during the period leading to the evaluation date
- Makes every effort to resolve supervisees’ concerns and performance problems promptly by accurately identifying the problem and providing an action plan to address it
- Respond to mental health emergencies throughout the institution as indicated
- Complete Suicide Risk Assessments and Detections in a timely manner for patients presenting with risk of self-harm and/or suicide
- Deliver crisis de-escalation services
- Communicate crisis resolutions and follow up plan to relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in multidisciplinary and Facility Risk Management team meetings
- Complete ITJS, job screening, and incoming transport screenings
- Participate in relevant classification and transfer decisions
- Work closely in an integrated team of corrections, classification, administrative, and health services staff
- Attend and complete required annual in-service and other assigned trainings
- On a rotational basis, teach “Suicide Prevention”, “Mental Health in Facilities” at home facility
- Participate in Involuntary Antipsychotic Medication Hearings on a rotational basis as the chair or lay advisor
- Participate in the Mental Health Duty Officer (MHDO) rotation on a voluntary basis for after-hours mental health consultations which may include
Requirements
- Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor (LAAC)
- Must have the ability to apply for Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor License within 30 days of hire date
- Additional consideration may be given for higher level DOH MH licenses
- Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited school or department of Psychology, or Master's degree in Psychology and two years of supervised post-Master's degree experience
- At least one year of experience working independently and effectively to provide individual and group therapies
- Experience linking clients with resources within institutions and/or the community
- Experience working in a collaborative fashion as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
- Official Washington State licensure as a Mental Health Clinician
