About the role
The Fleet Transactions Consultant invests in the future of Southwest by supporting the transaction process for the acquisition and disposition of all aircraft in the Southwest fleet. This role advises Sr. Leaders regarding aircraft purchases, lease negotiations and execution/administration of the final agreements; develops reporting and analysis for capital expenditure forecasts, lease payments, and technical. This role also supports the negotiation of amendments to aircraft purchase agreements, serves as a key point of contact, and executes the payments for new aircraft. The Fleet Transactions Consultant is a multi-tasker who is detail oriented and enjoys working in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes and reviews fleet strategy decisions for retirement and lease return requirement implications
- Represent Southwest Airlines in interactions with Lessors related to technical requests including annual audits and physical inspections
- Manage the process to execute new aircraft payments, lease payments, and other financial transactions including creation and maintenance payment transaction data in SAP
- Develop and maintain financial forecasts and reporting including capital expenditure forecasts, aircraft encumbrances, and status of leased aircraft/engine assets
- Ensures systems used by the Team (e.g., SAP Treasury module, Tririga, Aircraft database in QuickBase) are properly updated and maintained
- Represent the Fleet Transactions Team in Airworthiness Directive, Aircraft Maintenance Planning and Engine Planning meetings to provide direction on leased/retiring assets
- Identify and coordinate the provision of appropriate aircraft records and report to aircraft lessors/buyers/consignees
- Monitor industry trends and market appraisals to develop insights that support aircraft leasing and disposition strategies
- Train and assist other members of the Team in the proper execution/use of processes, procedures, and systems utilized by the department
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Requirements
- Knowledge of contractual principles and practices
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Skilled in completing analyses on multiple, complex scenarios and to develop and support recommendations to Senior Leadership based on this analysis
- Skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information
- Skilled in communication with a variety of settings and with cross functional teams and various position levels
- Ability to complete complex financial forecasts including Capital Expenditure requirements
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks of varying priorities and ensure all deadlines are met in accordance with the expectations and timelines of project Stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively with Leaders, other Team Members, and other Departments
