Responsibilities

  • Release and support Sky Sports products into the live environment for a global audience
  • Participate in the full software lifecycle, including support and continuous integration
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the team
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other developers on the team
  • Share and generate new ideas, provide constructive and useful feedback to peers
  • Quickly build prototypes and work with top brains in ML across the industry
  • Actively participate in code reviews within your squad and across the department.
  • Work with senior technical staff to advocate & advance modern software development processes.
  • Be a part of Sky’s software engineering community and actively contribute to development meetings, guilds, and wider Sky initiatives.

Requirements

  • You are a very confident AWS software developer – this is a must (AWS certification is a bonus)
  • Experience or ability to very quickly pick up Javascript/Typescript
  • It will be nice if you have experience working with Python, React, Lambda, Serverless Framework, DynamoDB, S3, AppSync/GraphQL, API Gateway, Step Functions etc
  • Restless attitude and a drive to always make things better and quicker
  • Experience of development within a cross-functional agile team, using source control with appropriate branching and commit strategies.
  • Experience setting up, configuring and maintaining all parts of the development process, e.g. tracing, monitoring, observability, automated CI/CD pipelines, release tooling, APIs and backend integrations.
  • Experience refactoring complex codebases, reducing technical debt and improving code quality over time.
