Senior Underwriter Construction (f/m/x)

• You will be empowered with significant underwriting authority to negotiate and make sound business decisions in order to deliver regional financial targets.
• You will assist the regional construction lead in developing and executing on strategic initiatives.
• You will work with brokers in real-time and make quick decisions.
• You will provide a streamlined service to brokers, by following the “Underwriting Rules & Guidelines” and by using existing pricing tools / modelling tools / MI tools.
• You will collaborate with local distribution to establish a “pipeline” of target accounts across all lines of Insurance, not just Construction.
• You will use existing reports/data to monitor profitability trends across your portfolio.
• You will keep abreast of market developments, especially in your region.
• You will have a thorough understanding of policy forms / contracts but will also work with our in house legal team and outside counsel on complex coverage issues.
• You will develop strong long term relationships with brokers and clients, providing superior service to establish mutually beneficial partnerships.
• Provide training and support to junior members of the team.

• Construction underwriting experience, preferably at a large international insurance company.
• You have recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market.
• You have a thorough understanding of regional / local Engineering & Construction insurance markets and competitor landscape.
• You have a thorough understanding of policy wordings and relevant industry developments.
• You have the ability to work quickly and effectively in a small team, helping the regional construction team to hit their targets.
• You are capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective.
• You have excellent negotiation skills, ability to build, maintain and expand relationship with key broker partners and clients.
• You have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• You should be results-oriented.
• Preferably, you have a degree either in engineering/construction, economics, law or other appropriate discipline.
• Ideally you are ACII qualified or working towards it.
