About the role

Performs diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures. Maintains records of examinations performed. Obtains and documents patient clinical information as needed. Performs basic patient care within scope of practice and to departmental standards. Assists in radiology department as needed. Responsibility to adhere to the Florida Hospital Corporate compliance plan, to the rules and regulations of all local, state, and Federal agencies, and to the standards of all accrediting bodies The value you'll bring to the team: Mains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Explains procedures to patients, ensuring comfort, cooperation, and privacy throughout the exam. Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis. Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when necessary. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Other duties as assigned. Acquires and analyzes ultrasound images and data, providing complete and high-quality studies for radiologist interpretation. Completes the ultrasound technologist worksheet with accurate, clear, and concise documentation of exam findings to support radiologist review and dictation. Sterilizes transducers as needed to maintain hygiene and safety standards. Performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams in accordance with provider orders and established protocols. Verifies patient identity and exam appropriateness and obtains necessary clinical history prior to scanning. Positions patients and equipment appropriately and manipulates transducers and technical factors to acquire optimal images, waveforms, heart rates, and other diagnostic data. Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time. Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages. Practicing infection control standards and using approved PPE and disinfectant agents. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Qualifications The expertise and experience you'll need to succeed : Associate Preferred Technical/Vocational School in a program that makes candidate eligible to sit for ARDMS or ARRT boards Preferred One or more years of Work Experience Preferred Must have detailed knowledge of ultrasound physics as well as cross-sectional and vascular anatomy and Doppler techniques in order to perform independent procedures to Radiologist standards. Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval. Patient care and communication skills as needed to deal with patients from infant through geriatric age groups. Contacts with patient, patients families, physicians and employees require a disposition that is calming, professional and not easily provoked. Voice must be pleasant in face-to-face and telephone conversations. Has extremely intimate contact with patient during many procedures. Must be able to deal with sensitive issues in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to communicate well regarding procedure, and since examination is frequently visible to patient, deal with patient questions regarding the study, particularly for such studies as fetal ultrasounds. Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) Required Amer Reg Diag Med Sonography (ARDMS) Required or Registered Technologist - Sonography (RTS) Required Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Preferred
